True Friends Can be Unexpected Friends

First I want to say a big welcome to my new followers. You really made my day and I hope that following my posts will be rewarding for you!

Now, who would expect that these 2 would be friends, much less such good friends. This image reminds me of how blessed I am to have such good friends now and to have had such friends in the past. Today I can say that my husband is my very best friend, a blessing and joy I have had for 25 years.

This fun image is from Wink Wink Ink and is called "Falling Apart".  As with all WWI images, it comes with a pre-colored version as well as black and white for coloring. For this card I chose to color the image. I did, however, use the colored version as a guide to colors, one of the great reasons to get them both!

 I did not have a charm that said "friends" so made one using a tiny frame charm I had. Wish my writing was better, lol. I really think it pulls the sentiment together with the intended thought.

I left the top half of the inside blank and only decorated the bottom since it is an easel card. I so much wanted to use the sentiment with this image, but was torn as to what kind of card to make.

Going through current challenges, I found one for an easel cards! Problem solved. :o)

So Shy

Isn't she just adorable. I fell in love with this image as soon as I saw her and just had to get her. Not that I don't have enough digital images! She is called Sweet Sarah by Chrissy Digi's and which I found at  Whimsey Stamps. I love the sitting images, except Magnolia, but there are very few images to sit them on. I was so glad when I found that they also had a really cute seat to place her on called Love Seat. 

I am taking an online intermediate copic class offered at Simply Scrapping Crafts.  This week we are learning how to color faces and this is one of the images I used for my "homework".

I was able to use my all time favorite paper, Jolie Chocolat by SEI. The colors were not a perfect match, but close enough for me.

Anyone else find it hard to match paper to copic colors? I pick my paper and then use a color chart I made of all the colors I own to match the colors to the paper. Then when I am finished they don't match. Grrrr... How frustrating it is. I end up picking my paper by the "well it's close enough' strategy, lol, as I did here.

I cut this butterfly out of one of the sheets of papers. I hope I don't regret it later when I want to use the paper and there is a big hole where I want to cut!

Thinking of Spring

I finally decided to blow the dust off my rubber stamps. There are so many that still have not seen ink! I know! Shocking! It is a secret though, so don't tell my husband! Sometimes I wonder if I am a stamper or collector.

This is one of the Sugar Nellie stamps I just had to have. Isn't she adorable. This image is called "Basket of Happiness". I am not even sure where I purchased her from. I tried a Google search and did not find her. I did however find...Sugar Nellie digital stamps, Bwaaaa ha ha, how ironic. (and, of course, purchased 2)

I chose out some pattern paper to use before I colored her so that I could color to match. This is something I read just recently and how much easier it is! WOW, I spend so much less time searching for just the right color paper doing it this way.

Sadly, the copic colors did not come out the greenish blue I had planned to match the paper, so the hunt was on for paper to match.  I have so much Stampin' Up pattern paper I am trying to use up, so I can justify buying new pattern paper {wink} but I think SU purposely makes their colors NOT to match copic colors, sigh. I think this paper matched well enough though.

The card itself has such a simple layout, I am not sure it is worthy of such a lovely image. I do love this Paper Temptress ribbon though. It adds a soft shimmer to the overall card.

As you can see, the inside is ultra simple too. I really had a hard time using this paper with the image. I am on the lookout for new paper packs. I find that K & Company has some that I really like, but the shipping is horrific.

Has anyone figured out a good way to organize digital paper? I have quite a bit of it, but it is all mixed in with the digi image folders in my files. Since I file by the creator/site name, it is hard to tell who has paper and who doesn't. I have thought of copying thumbnails into a word file to print out. I wonder if that would help...next time I have hours to kill I might give it a try, lol

A Different Kind Of Bookmark

Today I have a bookmark I made last fall at an Egg Artistry show in Ohio. My mother makes wonderful egg art {just google "egg artistry" and you will see what "real" egg art is :o)}. With my mothers help, I started dabbling with it a couple of years ago and have gone to 2 of the shows so far. Not only are these shows fun and informative, but it is a nice trip for my mother and I to take.

I learned to make these book marks with quail eggs last year. I wanted to make them for Christmas gifts, but being in the hospital made it impossible to do so. Maybe next year! They really are fun to make and quite easy.

The card I used to show the bookmark can be found in my October 5th post here.  I photographed the card and the bookmark at the same time, so you can see it has been a while since I have made it.

I need to order more of the quail eggs so I can make some book marks in different colors. I hope the quail moms don't mind!

Just check out how well the paper matches the image. No trying to find the right paper to match the image or one another.

The inside sentiment says "Happiness held is the seed; happiness shared is the flower", which is from the "Happiness Shared" set from Stampin' Up.

The paper is just to pretty to only make a card. Here I made a square box to hold a small flower pot. I love these flowers, but when I purchased them I had not realized how big they were! So very glad I had a chance to use them.

Holding the lid closed I used some magnets.

Finally I made a seed packet holder to attach to some gardening tools.
