Twinchie and Fishy

I have 2 cards to share today! Both were so much fun and the first time I made a card like it. It is great to try new things, when the time permits, LOL. New things do take a bit longer than something that has been tried before. These two cards went together really easily and quickly, though.

My first card is a "Twinchie". I heard of them for the very first time when I read this challenge. Actually, I didn't even know what it was and the challenge post didn't define it. The only thing left to do was to turn to good old Google. What did I find? A lot of blogs talking about them but not defining them, sheesh! I finally happened upon a site that did. It is a project made with a 2 sq. inch piece of paper. Like and inchie, just 2 inches instead of 1. Now I could decide on a theme and make my first Twinchie"!

I used the lovely Rose digital stamp from Soft Pencil Digital Stamps. I printed 3 out in a 1 1/2 x 3/4" size. WOW, those looked so tiny on the sheet in Photoshop! They really were not bad to color at all. As a matter of fact, the small size made the coloring go rather quickly.I cut each layer smaller than the previous one to give the rose a 3D look. I added gold around the edges of the petals using my gold metallic gel roller pen. For some sparkle, I  ran my sakura glitter pen around it. If you click on the picture, you can see a bit of it which looks really pretty with the subtle sparkles near the gold. I also added all the smudges with the same pen. Some I did randomly, while others I put in specific spots, like the corners.

The butterfly was originally a pewter color, but I wanted it gold. Using my Kryon gold marker I colored it as well as using it on the distressed edges.

Challenges I entered this Twinchie into to:
Something Completely Different: twinchie AND butterflies
ABC Challenge: "U" for unused stash
Wild Flower Patch: Recipe: ribbon, sparkles and dimension.
Meljens Designs: flowers and blooms
Pixie Dust Studio: cut it out
Splitcoast Stampers: Ways To Use It: Edge Distresser

My second card was made using the brand new image "Fiona" from Wink Wink Ink. I wanted to do something completely different with her though. What did I decide to do? Well, I made a bunch of Fiona's and framed the image with an origami frame.

I also cropped the seahorse from the Wink Wink Ink image "Li'l Mermaid". They look so cute with the baby Fionas! Instead of coloring the background, I used an acetate sheet from the Paper Temptress cut into a circle. To make the water, I simply took my BG xxx (I forgot the #) copic marker and ran it over the sheet in wavy lines. The origami frame is...hmmmm...what to call it? Well, it has dimension since it does not sit flat on the picture.

The actual "card" is on the back.
Challenges I entered this card into:
Wink Wink Ink: Make card or project that is not square or rectangle.
Creative Cottage: Fancy Folds. I don't know if this fold is fancy either, but the frame that the pieces make is fairly fancy
I Love Digi: Use a charm on your project

I am so very glad you stopped by today. And, yes, another reminder to >>>enter the blog candy by becoming a follower.<<< You can read about it at the top of the main page. Actually, it just hit 21, which means I will be adding more candy tomorrow! I hope you will come by :o)
hugs...
